My Favorite Character

You’ve heard it before, “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Or, the oriental version, “one picture is worth ten thousand words”. But how about the reverse? A word is worth a thousand pictures. Such is the case with the character Darby in my book, Halfway to Uncertainty. Before, during, and after his creation one thousand pictures came to mind – those of Don Johnson.

Of all the characters I’ve created, Darby is the only one I knew only Don could pull off in a movie version of the book. In fact, I’d insist on it. Which is funny, because Darby is not a main character and Don Johnson has always been a leading character. Don is unique, but so is Darby and that’s why they are a match made in heaven. But don’t take my word for it, look at his portfolio and tell me his picture doesn’t say a thousand words.
